From mastering technical skills in the classroom to leading a thriving salon and inspiring local stylists, Joel鈥檚 journey shows what鈥檚 possible with Empire鈥檚 education, dedication, and community leadership.
From 蘑菇传媒 Student to Educator
Joel Flammer began his professional beauty journey at 蘑菇传媒 Lehigh Valley, PA, where he completed the Cosmetology Program and later the Educator Training Program. After graduating, Joel returned to 蘑菇传媒 as an educator, teaching and mentoring the next generation of beauty professionals. His experience as an instructor allowed him to give back to the school that helped launch his career while reinforcing his own skills in leadership, communication, and education.
Building a Vision Through Salon Ownership: East Coast Hair Co.
Joel and his partner and husband, Matt, opened . in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. Matt is also a graduate of 蘑菇传媒 Lehigh Valley and previously served as an educator, making the salon a true Empire alumni-led business. The salon is known for its curated environment built on a foundation of serenity, inclusivity, and elevated guest experience.
Co-Founding the Lehigh Valley Hair Showcase
In addition to salon ownership, Joel is one of three founders of the Lehigh Valley Hair Showcase (LVHS), alongside Alison and Andrea Lee. The Lehigh Valley Hair Showcase began when Alison, Andrea Lee, and Joel met at a FIG launch party in 2023 and discovered their shared vision: to create a non-competitive platform where local stylists could shine while supporting the Boys & Girls Club of Bethlehem, PA.
That vision came to life in 2025 with the inaugural Showcase 鈥� an unforgettable event that brought together salons, vendors, and the community. What started as a chance meeting has now grown into an annual celebration of artistry, collaboration, and giving back. Today, the Hair Showcase is more than an event 鈥� it鈥檚 a movement dedicated to uplifting the beauty industry and the community we call home.
